Annual Masquerade Set for Saturday Night

The
most impactful and entertaining event in Indianapolis, The Masquerade, is set
for Saturday. The sold-out event, featuring American pop rock band, Huey Lewis and the News, will raise funds to support crucial education and mentoring
programs for at-risk youth. This year, the event jointly celebrates Simon Youth
Foundation 15-year and Pacers Foundation 20-year anniversaries.
Sisters
Deborah Simon and Cindy Simon Skjodt will be honored for their remarkable
impact in the City of Indianapolis and the State of Indiana. Endeavoring to
build on the family tradition of civic and philanthropic responsibility
established by their late father and past Masquerade honoree, Melvin Simon,
Deborah and Cindy are both pillars of the community and influential ambassadors
of numerous organizations. In addition to guiding the efforts of Simon Youth Foundation through her role as Chairperson of the Board, Deborah Simon also
serves on numerous boards including Mercersburg Academy, the The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, Herron School of Art, the Indianapolis Zoo, and the Indiana AIDS Fund, just to name a few.
Similarly, Cindy Simon Skjodt has led the Pacers Foundation as
President, established the Samerian Foundation, and has served on the boards of
the Indiana University Foundation, Central Indiana Community Foundation, 500 Festival Foundation and Indiana Sports Corporation, among others.
Over
the years, more than $7 million has been raised for the organizations, inspiring
youth served by SYF and Pacers Foundation that they can
achieve their dreams. This
significant fundraising event – and the guests who attend, continue to help
support the work of the organizations, ultimately benefiting youth who need
vital opportunities for personal development through education and mentoring.
