SYF Students Go Anywhere (Literally!)

Talk about the power of
igniting hope … here are two students who were given a chance to succeed and
they seized the opportunity. Each were featured in the 2012 SYF Impact Report,
highlight stories of student success and employing our belief that our students
can go anywhere.
Sonia Davis graduated from
Simon Youth Judson Learning Academy at Rolling Oaks Mall, San Antonio, TX. She
is a first generation college student and the first Simon Youth Academy
graduate to study abroad. She began attending Richmond American International
University in London, England, in the spring of 2012, majoring in International
Relations with a minor in History. Sonia credits the staff at the Academy for
her newfound courage that propelled her in the new direction toward success.
Growing up with global
educators as parents, Roland Lewinski had a unique program. His family moved
often to places such as Italy, Poland and the United States. When his family
settled in Seattle, WA, he found a traditional high school was not the best
setting for him. Roland found the unique “at your own pace” educational setting
provided at Simon Youth Academy at Northgate Mall to be what he needed to
excel. Last year, Roland received the competitive Confucius Institute
Scholarship, was a finalist for the prestigious Fulbright scholarship and is
now currently studying in Shanghai, China.
We are igniting hope at a
higher rate than ever before. We can’t wait to see what this academic year, this
year’s students and this years’ graduating class will bring.
