In 2021, SYF continued work to recover from the economic effects stemming from the pandemic. SYF’s annual fundraising events, including The Masquerade Gala, and Simon Regional Fundraisers, represented 55% of the Foundation’s annual operating budget but were again canceled in 2021 to prioritize the health of our supporters and adhere to local and federal guidelines. SYF was able to host two outdoor events, Tees for Education Golf Outing and SYF Founders Celebration.
Despite this, SYF’s donors and supporters stepped up to ensure that #SYFmeansGraduation – no matter what.

Summer Events
Summer 2021 marked the return of both SYF’s Tees for Education Golf Outing and Founders Celebration. For the first time, SYF hosted both events in one weekend. Connecting these events, provided national and event sponsors the ability to combine travel and attend both events.
Tees for Education
SYF’s 14th Annual Tees for Education Golf Outing, was held on Friday, August 13, 2021 at The Legends Golf Club, Franklin, Ind. SYF worked closely with the club outing coordinator to ensure that our participants had a safe and enjoyable day by offering solutions to network and golf in the safest environment. New and returning sponsors demonstrated their unwavering support on and off the course – the event generated $62,000.
Founders Celebration
SYF returned to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, on August 14, for the Founders Celebration. A special day met SYF National and Founders sponsors with an event infused with one of Indy’s most significant sports, racing. Guests enjoyed the various activities hosted at the track during the Brickyard 200 weekend events, including INDYCAR and NASCAR. For the first time in history, both types of racing took place in one event. Of course SYF was ready to join in the race with our very own branded NASCAR, featuring SYF impact and SYF’s top national sponsors. Special guests included teachers and students from Simon Youth Academy at Circle Centre Mall. The day allowed sponsors to connect with students, educators, Simon executives and directors while celebrating the life-changing accomplishments of Simon Youth Foundation. Together these sponsors contributed more than $365,000.
Individual Giving
Individuals, including Simon employees, helped SYF’s pandemic recovery efforts. Simon employee giving exceeded expectations –$566,000 supporting the efforts to help students reach graduation day! Circle of Hope, the Simon Youth Academy-led fundraising campaign for SYF, raised more than $10,000 with the participation of 111 SYF teachers and Academy leaders. Hundreds of new donors mirrored their generosity to SYF in 2021, each of whom played a critical role in SYF’s ability to continue to serve students nationwide.
