With his “first day of college outfit” picked out and his backpack packed, CJ Butcher is ready for his first day of college. A graduate from Dr. Paul L. Kelley Volunteer Academy, a SYF Academy in Knoxville, TN, CJ received a Simon Youth Academy Scholarship, which is helping him pursue his dream of attending college and some day, getting a doctorate in public policy.
CJ credits SYF Academy – the teachers and the principal, in particular, for helping him prepare for the transition from high school to college. They’ve helped him turn his nerves into
confidence and today, as he steps onto campus for his first college classes, he has the tools to help him succeed.

“Everyone really helped me a lot, the teachers were absolutely phenomenal and the principal was really cool,” shared CJ. “I’m really, really excited about college and it’s happening because of Simon Youth Foundation.”
CJ is one of 10,000 SYF graduates who have had the spark of hope ignited in them by the people, programs, classes and support received by Simon Youth Foundation.
We wish CJ – and all SYF students who are heading back to school, the best year ever! You are the Simon in Simon Youth Foundation. You are the reason Simon Youth Foundation exists. You ignite hope in us and inspire us to continue doing what we are doing!
