SYF Launches National Sponsorship Program
As part of SYF’s revenue maturation strategy, SYF launched a new National Sponsorship Program in 2019. The Advancement team identified and solicited key corporate sponsors, and invited them to be part of the inaugural class of national sponsors. As members of the inaugural class, 18 corporate sponsors amplified and increased their commitment to SYF for the year, generating nearly $340,000 in revenue and enabling SYF to expand programs and reach more students.
The National Sponsorship Program returned for its second year in 2020, and despite the economic challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, SYF has secured 10 sponsorship commitments, which will generate $215,000 to support SYF’s programs.
SYF hosted its annual Founders Celebration at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July 2019.

National Events Raise $1.1 Million to Support SYF’s Mission
Each year, our generous donors and partners make SYF’s work possible through their support of our mission to help students graduate. In the 2019-20 academic year, national fundraising events raised more than $1.1 million for SYF.
SYF’s annual summer events – Tees for Education and Founder’s Celebration – grossed a total of $440,000. Thirteen new sponsors supported at least one of the events, generating nearly $50,000 in new revenue. Both events boasted higher attendance than years past, providing SYF a wider audience to target for stewardship and cultivation in individual giving.
The 18th annual Masquerade was held on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, and grossed $700,000 total for SYF and the Pacer’s Foundation, making it possible for the Foundations to continue the critical work of providing hope and opportunity for young people. Funds were generated through both event sponsorships and in-kind support. PNC Bank generously returned as the Masquerade’s title sponsor. The event honored the presidents of two of Indiana’s highly-respected public higher education institutions, Mitchell “Mitch” E. Daniels, Jr., President of Purdue University, and Dr. Michael A. McRobbie, President of Indiana University.
Simon Regional Fundraisers
Simon malls, Premium Outlets and The Mills hosted eight regional events in 2019. The combination of these events made up 60% of the revenue generated by malls, totaling more than $1.1 million in revenue for SYF. In addition to the significant financial support, these events create opportunities for SYF to expand relationships and partnerships in communities across the country, while connecting attendees to SYF’s mission. Teachers and students from local Simon Youth Academies in Boston, Indianapolis, New York, Orlando and Washington, D.C., attended regional events and spoke with attendees to share their stories, and how SYF has impacted their lives. These connections provided additional discussion around developing new partnerships and other pathways to support students.
At the annual Founder’s Celebration, SYF’s national partners gathered at the Indianapolis MotorSpeedway to celebrate the Foundation’s 20th anniversary and reflect on the impact of its success. The event’s 150 guests raised nearly $375,000 to help students across the country pursue their dreams through education.
