Scholarships help almost 300 students pursue their dreams through education

Simon Youth Foundation (SYF), a national nonprofit dedicated to helping students graduate high school and pursue post-secondary education, will award $1 million in post-secondary scholarships to 283 high school graduates from 36 states and Puerto Rico.

“I am honored to celebrate Simon Youth Scholarship recipients for their amazing accomplishments, and to ensure the events of the last few months do not inhibit them from pursuing their higher education aspirations,” said Dr. J. Michael Durnil, President and CEO of Simon Youth Foundation. “We are fortunate to be able to give back to communities that support our mission throughout the year.”

SYF believes that cost alone should not prevent students from furthering their education, and strives to help eliminate this financial burden through its Simon Youth Scholarships program. Now more than ever, families across the country are facing financial hardships due to the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. For the 2020-2021 academic year, the Foundation supported its scholarship programs at the highest level in order to leverage the greatest impact for as many students in as many communities as possible.

With the incredible support of its corporate partner, Simon, and its Simon Supports Education initiative, SYF is humbled to help young people pursue post-secondary degrees. Due to the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, SYF and its partners at Simon were unable to celebrate with scholarship recipients in person this year, but instead planned surprise “scholarship in a box” mailings to recipients filled with celebratory items to recognize their significant accomplishment.
