Due to harsh winter conditions felt throughout much of the country this week, Simon Youth Foundation will extend the Simon Youth Community Scholarship Deadline to January 21, 2014. The extension should afford applicants extra
time to pick up scholarship applications from Simon Guest Services Centers and to secure transcripts or other necessary documentation. The new deadline also will allow mail delivery to return to normal schedules. For the 14th straight year, Simon Youth Foundation, a national nonprofit that creates educational opportunities, will award college scholarships to students in communities that are home to Simon properties. Any student who will graduate in the class of 2014 and lives within 50 miles of a Simon property is eligible.

Since the program’s inception, Simon Youth Foundation has awarded more than $10 million in
scholarships nationwide, and that number promises to grow in 2014 with the new class of recipients. The program will award one-time scholarships of up to $1,500 to students who plan to enroll in an accredited college, university,
vocational or technical school. In addition, an “Award of Excellence” will be given to the top candidate among scholarship winners that represent each of the nationwide Premium Outlets® locations. “Awards of Excellence” are $2,500 scholarships that are renewable for up to three years.

2014 Simon Youth Community Scholarship recipients will be selected by Scholarship Management Services, a
third-party administrator. Students are selected based on a variety of criteria, including financial need, academic performance, leadership skills and participation in school and community activities. Students who are the first in
their families to pursue a post-secondary education also will be given close consideration. The completed application, along with official school transcripts and parents’ most recent tax form, must be sent to Scholarship Management Services by Jan. 21, 2014.
